Attending the FOXE Awards Show at the Mayan Theater was a unique experience for me; I'd never been to the Mayan and I'd never before attended the FOXE Awards Show. I must say I wasn't particularly looking forward to driving to downtown Los Angeles alone at night. However, I was pleasantly surprised at both the venue (which was gorgeous) and the event (which was great fun).
At the door I was greeted with a hug by Bill Margold, event organizer, and someone who is always working tirelessly to improve the lives of those in the adult industry. Inside, I was greeted very warmly by many of the talent and also by some of the attendees with whom I've become acquainted. Emerald was the first to recognize me. We had met on the yacht for the filming of Sopornos 3, and she was also at the bowling event for Free Speech (I mentioned to her that I had a picture of her on this website from the bowling event).
Justine Romeé came up to me to say "hi" and to introduce me to her husband. They are going to start producing their own videos with an all-girl cast and crew (I mentioned they needed yours truly as their photographer). Justine looked really hot and seems like such a sweet person. I complimented her on her website (xxxjustine.com), and she said that her husband does a lot of the work on the site.
Brooke Hunter looked gorgeous, as usual. I am never quite sure if it's her each time I see her. For some reason, she looks a little different to me each time. I spoke with her fiancé, Ron Miller, for a while. He informed me that after Erotica L.A., which takes place next weekend, they'll be starting some new projects which will be revealed soon. Their wedding plans have now been moved to May, 2002. This will be his fourth marriage, but he's not hesitant to take this step once again. He says his relationship with Brooke is great, and they're very happy.
After taking pictures of Justine and Brooke, I entered the main theater where Josie and the Pissants were playing some VERY loud (but good) punk rock music. The Mistress of Ceremonies was Christi Lake, who did a great job. Awards were given to the favorites of the fans: males--Mr. Marcus and Randy Spears, and females--Kim Chambers, Jill Kelly, and Bridgett Kerkove and a special "vixen" award to Tera Patrick. All except Spears were present to accept their awards.
The evening's entertainment was provided by Selena Steele, Alicia Rio, Nina Whett, Keisha, Anita Cannibal, Tina Toy, Ruby and Veronica Velour. All of the dance and performance entertainment was spectacular; the girls really work hard at putting on athletically rigorous routines. I was exhausted watching. Comedian, Nikki Collins, also performed (in drag).
Because there was liquor being served, there could not be nudity, so the performers had to put tape over their nipples. Isn't that a ridiculous law? You can see the whole breast, but not the nipple!
Organizer, Bill Margold, was hoping for a better turnout, and I heard from someone that consequently, this may be the last FOXE Awards Show. Let's hope that's not true!
