Internext Expo, AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, AVN Awards Show and Parties Las Vegas, Nevada -- January 3-8, 2005 |
The Internext Expo took place January 4-6 and the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) took place January 6-9. The following reports reflect the actual dates I attended and not all the days of the two conventions. The Internext report includes a party the evening before the opening of the Expo. The AVN Awards Show was on the evening of the 8th. I attended six parties, which was a mere fraction of all the parties that were going on during the week. I will have galleries for four of the parties. At the other two parties, I didn't take pictures. One was supposed to have a lot of models attending, but it didn't turn out to be much of anything. The other was a huge party sponsored by Vertigo Video and held at Club OPM on Jan 7. It was so packed and you really weren't supposed to take pictures, but a few people, including me, sneaked in small cameras. However, I didn't see anyone I knew, and it just wasn't an easy place to take pictures. I only stayed for 20 minutes. Kudos to all the folks who organized the three major events and the parties. Considering what it takes to put on events of this magnitude, things ran relatively smoothly. The week was great for me, although I got very little sleep, as usual. There was hardly a spare minute, and one day I didn't even eat anything at all until 7:00 p.m. The Internext Expo takes place twice a year, and the next one will be August 5-7, 2005, in Hollywood, Florida. Some people prefer the summer one to the one in Vegas. The Vegas one is difficult for some companies, because they exhibit at both of the Vegas Expos, so it is a long, tiring week for them and for the stars who make appearances. Many complain about getting sick--the "Vegas flu" as they label it--because they are so worn out and exposed to so many people. Even I came home with a deep cough this year. Luckily, it didn't get too serious or last very long--just a few days. This year the Internext Expo's last day was the same as the Adult Entertainment Expo's first day. That didn't work out well, in my opinion. Because they overlapped, I chose to go to the AEE on the 6th. According to an AVN report on January 19, "more than 17,000 fans and 13,000 stars, exhibitors, and press attended the 2005 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. Attendance figures for the 2005 Expo were up in all categories in comparison to attendance in 2004." There were over 300 exhibitors, which increased from 2004's 252 exhibitors. The 2006 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo will take place January 5-8, 2006, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The AVN Awards Show will take place at the Venetian Hotel & Casino on Saturday, January 7, 2006. When I finish getting all my reports and pictures up, I will also have photos from Dino that I'll put in a separate gallery. He attended a few additional parties and also got many photos of stars at both conventions. One suggestion I have for all exhibitors who have stars signing for them: PLEASE put a prominent sign with their name on it in front of each girl who is signing. That would benefit the girls, the fans and the Press. I can't begin to tell you how many times I heard people (including me) asking, "Who is that?".
